EasyJet has announced eight new routes from the UK for the 2009-10 winter season.

The no-frills carriers’ extra services include Liverpool airport to the Canary islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. EasyJet will also add services from Stansted-Fuerteventura.

Chief executive Andy Harrison said: “Times are tough for consumers, so we are proud to offer great year-round holiday opportunities in fantastic places .”

The new flights from Liverpool mean that EasyJet will serve 25 destinations from the airport and the Canary islands’ flights are the airline’s first mid-haul flights from Liverpool.

Neil Pakey, deputy chief executive of Peel Airports Group, which runs the airport, said: “We are delighted EasyJet is continuing to increase their choice of destinations from Liverpool.”

The flights begin in November. One-way prices including taxes and charges start from £27.99.
